The Fig House, located in Los Angeles, is a chic and versatile wedding venue that offers a blend of indoor and outdoor amenities, vintage and modern designs, and lush, vibrant greenery.
I am a Los Angeles based wedding photographer and in this comprehensive guide, I will provide you with all the information you need to plan your amazing wedding at The Fig House!
The History of The Fig House
The Fig House Los Angeles was originally built in the 1920s as a private residence in the city of Highland Park. It's a 15,000 square foot property that has since been renovated and transformed into an event space that retains much of its original charm. The Fig House team has a passion for preserving the historical aspects of the property while incorporating modern design elements to create a unique and inviting space.
Who is this Venue Perfect For?
Couples seeking a unique and stylish venue that combines vintage charm with modern elegance, located in the heart of Los Angeles. If you love Art Deco, this venue is perfect for you!
Crucial Tips for Your The Fig House Wedding
Book Well In Advance
The Fig House is in high demand. I recommend booking at least a year out in advance.
Consider Hiring a Shuttle Service
The venue's central location in Los Angeles makes it easily accessible by car, and there are ample parking options available. If you prefer to arrange transportation for your guests, consider hiring a shuttle service to ensure a convenient experience.
Incorporate Entertainment
This venue has an 11 pm curfew time which is pretty late for Los Angeles. Most LA wedding venues must have noise off by 10 pm or event 9:30 pm. With that said, I highly recommend keeping the atmosphere fun and vibrant with some music, such as a live band or DJ.
Consider Booking Hotel Rooms for Guests
The Fig House does not offer on-site accommodations. However, there are numerous hotels and rental properties nearby for you and your guests to choose from.
Nearby Hotels:
- The Westin Pasadena
- Sheraton Los Angeles San Gabriel
- The Langham Huntington, Pasadena
- Hilton Los Angeles/San Gabriel
Consider a Spring or Fall Date
This venue thrives from its color. To take advantage of this and incorporate more color on your day, I recommend choosing a Spring or Fall wedding date!
Personalize Your Day with Rentals
The Fig House Los Angeles boasts an array of stylish and unique decor elements, including vintage furniture, vibrant stained-glass windows, and elegant lighting fixtures. However, if you wish to personalize your wedding with additional decorations, The Fig House wedding team can provide recommendations for local rental companies and decor specialists. Some couples opt for simple table settings with floral centerpieces, while others choose to bring in additional furniture and decorative elements to create a truly bespoke experience.
Best Timeline for a Wedding at the Fig House
Below is my recommended wedding day timeline for your The Fig House Wedding. Lets say your ceremony start time is at 5:00 pm. Here’s my recommended timeline for that.
9:00 – 12:30 – Hair/Makeup at the Fig House (This start time will vary depending on how many people will be getting their hair/makeup done; typically, the bride is last)
12:00 – Photographer(s) Arrive at the Fig House
12:00 – 12:40 – Details (Dress, shoes, rings, etc.)
12:45 – 1:45 – Getting Ready Photos at the Fig House (One photographer is with Partner A & second photographer is with Partner B)
*Note: If you don’t have a second photographer, more time is needed here as the solo photographer will have to take extra time to document Partner A & Partner B.
1:45 – 2:45 – First Look + Couple Portraits
2:45 – 3:15 – Wedding Party Portraits (More time is needed here is there is no second photographer)
3:15 – 3:45 – Family Portraits
3:45 – 4:40 – Buffer Time (Super important to always leave buffer time within the schedule should things run a bit behind schedule. It also allows the couple to just relax more…the day won’t feel rushed.) If the timeline goes exactly to plan, the couple can use this time to relax or take extra photos. ;)
4:40 – Couple Preps for Ceremony / Photographer Documents Ceremony Details
5:00 – 5:30 – Ceremony
5:30 – 6:30 – Cocktail Hour + Couple Portraits
*The cocktail hour typically takes place during the golden hour (best time for photos because of the light), so usually about 30 minutes of couple portraits are taken during this time.)
6:45 – Grand Entrance
6:45 – 10:00 – Reception (First Dance, Parent Dances, Speeches, Open Dancing, Etc.)
